What is the mandate and mission of the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association?
The Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association was formed as a business improvement initiative in February, 2001 to carry out marketing and improvements to Quinpool Road. Our Mission is to "provide an organized, consistent and educated voice that service to grow the potential of the district, while preserving this unique community."

Are there any up-front fees to belong to the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association?
No, there are no up-front fees as the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association. The membership dues are collected automatically from the commercial taxes you pay as a business owner operating on Quinpool Road. This money is used to pay for staffing, our office location and to promote marketing and promotion initiatives for our members to meet our mandate. Besides the direct funding received from commercial taxes, we hold special fund-raising events, such as our annual Monte Carlo Night, to help pay for graffiti removal.

How do the members of the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association benefit?
Members of the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association will directly benefit from the promotional activities such as joint initiatives with the capital district, like the holiday brochure and participation in the Metro Visitors Guide and special events directed by the Association that draw people to Quinpool such as, our annual Fall Fair, Monte Carlo and Christmas activities. Also, businesses will be highlighted both on the Association’s Website and featured in their newsletter.

Two of the main issues that the Association will be addressing over the next two years will be the proposed residential tax reform and how it may affect commercial tax reform, (www.halifax.ca/taxreform) and the streetscaping on Quinpool Road.

The Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association is governed by a Board of Directors and Karla Nicholson, General Manager, who operates the day-to-day business of the association from a corner office located in the Sylvan Learning Centre, 6440 Quinpool Road.
